| Consulting Agreements | |
| Neither CSURF nor CSU are responsible for negotiating or reviewing
consulting agreements on behalf of CSU faculty and staff. The guidelines for consulting (http://facultycouncil.colostate.edu/files/manual/sectiond.htm#D.7.6) and conflict of interest (http://facultycouncil.colostate.edu/files/manual/sectiond.htm#D.7.7) are in the Academic Faculty and Administrative Professional Manual (http://facultycouncil.colostate.edu/files/manual/table.html). Consulting is subject to Colorado State University policies and it is the individual's responsibility to ensure that the consulting activities do not interfere with or hinder their responsibilities as a CSU employee. Faculty are also advised that personal consulting agreements may result in conflict of interest situations with their university employment and, as such, must be disclosed to their respective Department Chair for that determination and possible inclusion in a conflict of interest management plan. We recommend adding the following statement to any consulting agreement that you negotiate: "Consultant is an employee of Colorado State University and has responsibilities and research projects resulting from his/her activities as such an employee. Not withstanding any other provisions in this Agreement, the Company shall not have any rights to any work product, intellectual property and/or other works or materials created by Consultant as a result of employment with Colorado State University." |
