What is the CSU Real Estate Corporation (CSURE)?
CSURE is the entity that oversees the portfolio of real assets, including land, buildings, water and mineral rights, owned by Colorado State University and its related entities. It is also responsible for creating a vision and strategies, for using those assets to best benefit the University over an extended period.

Who owns CSURE?
It is wholly-owned by CSU Research Foundation, or CSURF.

Why CSURF?
As a non-profit entity, legally separate from Colorado State University, and existing for the benefit of Colorado State University, CSURF ownership offers the greatest possible benefits to CSU.

Is CSURE a non-profit entity?
CSURE exists as a for-profit ‘C’ corporation in order to allow a full spectrum of flexibility in transaction structuring. This permits CSURE to participate in transactions which would otherwise be cumbersome for a non-profit entity. With CSURE as a for-profit entity, real assets of Colorado State University can be managed in the most advantageous manner.

What types of transactions involve CSURE’s participation?
CSURE’s structure and organization allows it to be involved in a full spectrum of real estate dealings. The primary priority for use of real assets is to satisfy the traditional university needs of Colorado State University, including research, academic, student housing, and campus expansion needs, among others. A secondary priority is to use assets for long-term revenue generating activities to help Colorado State University with its financial needs. Long-term revenue generating transactions may include partnering with local developers in joint venture projects to benefit Colorado State University, the community, the local economy, and CSURE’s development partners.
