The Colorado State University Research Foundation (CSURF) has the responsibility to protect and manage the intellectual property resulting from research at Colorado State University. CSURF’s mission with respect to technology transfer states that we “facilitate and enable commercialization of the University’s intellectual property for the benefit of the public through effective and efficient management, protection and licensing of the intellectual property, consistent with University policy and its efforts in research, teaching and service.”

The process of Technology Transfer includes, but is not limited to evaluating intellectual property for protection and commercial opportunities; marketing to appropriate commercial partners; negotiating contracts with commercial partners; coordinating efforts of patent counsel; and ongoing maintenance and administration of licensed technology. In addition, CSURF receives, accounts for, and distributes all revenue received from its technology transfer operation according to Colorado State University policy.
